BE IN THE KNOW

Medicare is health insurance for people 65 or older. You’re first eligible to sign up for Medicare 3 months before you turn 65. You may be eligible to get Medicare earlier if you have a disability, End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), or ALS (also called Lou Gehrig’s disease).

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Most people get Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) when first eligible (usually when turning 65). You will also need to enroll into Part D (Rx coverage).

There are situations where you may not enroll in Part B/D upon turning 65.

It's important to talk to an AHIP certified Medicare representative to find out what you specifically need to do to avoid possible penalties & fines.

How much will this cost?

Typically, Medicare Beneficiaries are delightfully surprised to find out that their healthcare costs are going to go down drastically. in 2022, most beneficiaries will pay $170.20 for their Medicare Part B.

You can choose to purchase a Medigap plan which covers portions of your out of pocket costs when admitted to a hospital or seeing a doctor. Medigap plans have an age & health rating and can change year over year and require you to sign up for a part D (Rx plan).
